A game that didn’t exactly shake things up. Unless you’re a fan of the yellow-greens.
FC Dynamo Moscow finished this season 20-12-12 in 4th place with 72 points.
We played yet another season of missed opportunities and last-minute goals. Our last game of the season was no different. We didn’t lose, but we didn’t win either. Zvjezdan Misimović’s last-minute goal tied the game, but wasn’t enough to get us the third place medals.
Among the standout players of the opposition was Marcos Pizzelli, whose greatest attempt on goal was saved only by the crossbar. That said, many shots were deflected by the crossbar and not by Dynamo goalkeeper Anton Shunin. One of the largest mistakes a manager can make is failing to let our new and better goalie play instead of the aforementioned one (who I might add has been nutmegged way too many times). These past seasons have been simply a travesty for the club that once had the greatest goalkeeper in the history of the world (whose fans still display his image on their banners), and now can’t even get third place in the championship. Not only that, but we’ve never won the RPL title!
Imagine a club like Arsenal never winning the EPL.
If I was the head of FCD, the first thing I’d do is get a new manager pronto.
Dynamo is the oldest RPL club and also the only one to have never been relegated to the lower divisions. We should be playing like pros and getting medals. Right now, the RPL is showing us that money does matter, as teams like FC Zenit St. Petersburg, like Manchester City in the EPL, have taken the championship by storm.
Of course, it would be far beyond our reach to have a manager like Pep Guardiola, but if we had the opportunity, I think Pep would not only bring strategy and fame to the club, but reignite a burning passion for the game that has long been missing during the club’s post-Soviet years. While we may not see a legendary goalkeeper like Lev Yashin for many decades, there is no question that a legendary manager like Guardiola would definitely restore this team to its former glory.
Who would be the best pick for manager of FC Dynamo Moscow and why?
